HERITAGE HILL HISTORICAL PARK

People of the land before 1769
(In 1769 Spain sent Father Junipero Serra to California to establish Franciscan missions along the coast.)
In the park is an Indian village exhibit of the Acjachemen, the indigenous people of California. They believe they have lived here since the beginning of time. Archaeological evidence shows an Acjamcemen presence there for over 10,000 years.
Other parts of the park have a school house, a ranch house, a church. One of them is an adobe from Don Jose Serran, who got land grants by the Mexican Government in 1841.
So we have old and new.
