Bee on caryopteris

A quick photoshoot in the garden earlier today while the house was relatively quiet.

We’ve had a visit from #1 son and our eldest granddaughter today, which was supposed to be for one night but has been extended to two nights at L’s request. A lemon drizzle cake duly appeared on the kitchen table prior to their arrival (it happens by magic every time). It’s incredible how much L seems to have grown up in just a few weeks since we last saw her. 

We then had the pleasure of a visit from #2 son and our other two granddaughters, accompanied by much squealing of delight and sharing of hugs between the three cousins. Having brought up three sons, we are finding it quite different, and very enjoyable, to have three little girls in the house all these years later. (Not much quieter though!)

After the littlies went home we had supper, then the four of us sat round the dining room table and played the card game "Sleeping Queens". Talking of sleeping, I’m definitely ready for bed myself …
