Garden Pond

Suddenly seems a lot more lively. The Marsh Marigolds are out, the Water Lily Leaves are beginning to emerge, the Acer is in bud and there are hundreds of tadpoles eating their way out of their jelly.
We used to have quite a lot of fish until the Heron (who comes every year at the same time) ate them. I made quite a good scarecrow one year and looked out of the window one morning to find the Heron right at the side of scary crow having some sort of staring match then off to lunch. I have tried trip wires surrounding the pond (they are not supposed to like that) but he just stepped over them then off to lunch again!
