Wall Art - 327

One of the new ones in Glasgow.  This one is a bit hidden away and dificult to photograph between parked cars.

The subject is Thomas Muir (of Huntershill), often called the 'Father of Scottish Democracy'.   He was one of the first political prisoners transported to Botany Bay.  After 2 years he escaped and reached Vancouver Island.  After being helped by a Spansih Captain he was arrested and placed on board a ship to Cadiz.  This is when he was hit by a glancing blow from a canonball which damaged his cheekbone and eye.

"I have devoted myself to the cause of the people. It is a good cause ... It shall ultimately prevail ... It shall finally triumph"    Thamas Muir (1793).
