A grave situation

We are now staying with a school friend of mine and his family. Unfortunately their elder daughter- my goddaughter- could not make it down from London. Nevertheless it was great to catch up yesterday and today.

This morning I went with them to the church service at St Peter’s in Petersfield. It was an Anglican service so a bit different to my usual Church of Scotland service, though the underlying essence was the same. The church has 12th century Norman features and the has probably been a religious site here for a thousand years.

The sermon was an excellent and focused explanation by the vicar of her personal views as to why same sex couples should be married in the Anglican church.

Outside the church the graveyard has risen over the centuries to the extent that the gravestones have been removed and placed around as in the blip.

On the main square there was a gathering of scooters and vintage cars - a Plymouth from Massachusetts being most notable.

A light lunch followed by a walk and a swim and a lovely meal rounded off the day.
