Scotch argus

I associate this butterfly with summer holidays because we would see it whenever we came to Scotland on holiday in August (before we moved to live here). It was lovely to come across two of them in the garden today.

When I was leaving church this afternoon, an older couple appeared at the door to have a look inside. We got chatting and it wasn’t long before I realised that I was talking to one of my favourite teachers from schooldays.  She must have been a newly-qualified teacher when she taught me English, French and Latin in my first two years of secondary school because she still looks great, despite her advancing years. We stood chatting for ages.
