Oystercatchers at Sumburgh Head
It would actually be more accurate to say that there are currently oystercatchers everywhere at the south end of Shetland. There appear to be at least one pair (and often many more) in pretty much every field, and their call is the background to everything else that going on at the moment.
Oystercatchers are however pretty skittish, and will disappear into the distance 'pipping' frantically, so I've not been able to get a decent picture recently.
This one (and his/her mate) were on the rocks just off the west side of Sumburgh Head.
