Induction Sunday
I call this a successful induction of Blipper Poppy into Edinburgh Sunday café culture. We had time to have coffee before leaving to walk to the bus station for the bus to Aberdeen connecting with the ferry to Orkney
Poppy’s case weighed a ton but she manfully( am I allowed to say this in the present woke times in which we live?)dragged it through crowds of tourists and *mountains of rubbish to be in time to board the bus. A few minutes later and she would have had to get a slower bus stopping at Dundee, such were the crowds eager to leave the capital for a cleaner and quieter destination.
It’s been so lovely to have her stop over on her holiday journey. I think we get on so well together but maybe she thinks I’m a nightmare to live with and is just too polite to say so.
So I’m sitting on my own again on the patio, dregs of last night’s wine slipping over my throat very easily while listening to the washing machine doing it’s job and the noise of the festival carried to me from George Square. It’s been a busy 3 days of socialising.
*the street cleaners in Edinburgh are on strike, judging that now in the Festival is the best time to have the maximum impact. I think we are on day 4 now and there are another 5 or 6 days to go before we have them working again to clear up the mess. What the tourists from all over the world think of the state of the city, I have no idea.
