A long day
We left home at 9am with the intention of trialling a bus ride we intend to take in three weeks’ time for the start of our holiday. With the probability that the trains will be on strike again I looked at other options and came up with a plan. We now know where to catch the bus and the journey it takes. We stayed on and arrived at the buses final destination of Exeter. It was busy there as expected so we quickly made our way down to the quay. Our intention was to walk along the Exe Valley way to Starcross and catch the ferry over to Exmouth. The last ferry was at 5.10 but we were hopeful of catching the 4.10. We had an hour and ten minutes to walk the last three miles which we managed just. Over twelve miles in total and no time to stop and take photos of the deer at Powderham, we were flying by then. So this is a shot taken along the canal. We saw several swans, some in pairs with no young, some with a couple of cygnets and this pair had theee cygnets, There is a wreck behind. I read this week that the council are endeavouring to remove the wrecks along the river Exe but it’s an expensive business.
