Pompeii

Long but fun day! Metro to Central Station, fast train to Naples, local train to Pompeii. Walk to the actual site of Pompeii. No guide this time, just allowed the boy to wander and explore. Sure we missed stuff, but he had fun and I was happy to wander. It's about 26 years since I was last here and I still haven't walked up Vesuvius so I will have to return.

We had a cooling drink in a cafe/bar before heading back on the return journey. Even Will.noted how easy the journey was and how well the trains ran despite it being nearly 40degrees. Our trains wouldn't have been running at that temperature!
