Strathcarron in the rain

Another rainy day, this time with gale force winds has seen us confined to sea level. I did get one glimpse of the magnificent snowy peaks of Torridon, but they were gone before I could stop the car and get the camera out. This is a view up Loch Carron showing what we can see of the hills from near a place called Stromeferry (no ferry).

Strathcarron is a superb wide glaciated valley. Loch Carron is a sea loch that extends 10 or so miles down this valley and is 100m wide at its deepest, but only 20m wide at the Stromeferry narrows. Curiously the loch as named extends across two valleys, taking over the Loch Kishorn valley before opening out into the Atlantic just north of Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skye bridge.
