Compassion in Conflict

Moss Side Hospital in Maghull treated over 3600 soldiers of the First World War for shell shock and was renowned in the developing field of psychological medicine.It was the first hospital to treat shell shock in the UK.
The monument stands in the car park of Maghull North railway station which was built on the original site of the hospital.
