New Birdlife

Since the flood there have been several “lakes” out back. A surprising number of birds have flown in to make the most of them. Here are southern black-backed gulls, including a juvenile, and a pair of paradise shell ducks. I also saw smaller gulls and a pair of white-faced herons. Unfortunately they were all too far away to get a good shot.
