It’s Electrifying!
In my day job I’m a control systems engineer and the company me and my partner own has spent the last 35 years building systems for lots of weird and wonderful things. For the last 3 years we’ve been putting together ideas to produce a self optimising smart energy system which generates, stores and distributes power. We’ve had small scale test systems but what your see here is one of the larger pieces of the jigsaw we finished installing on our workshop roof today, 75 latest gen Solar PV panels which will generate 30kW of power for us to store and use when we need it. This will work in conjunction with the wind turbine going up in the next couple of weeks and then the work can proceed to join everything up and provide the power to our new array of 6 Air Source Heat Pumps which will heat the entire building this winter, effectively for free as they are powered from our self-generated electricity. The other big bonus is we ripped out our 55 year old oil guzzling boiler which produced 40T of CO2/yr and chewed through £20k’s worth of oil!
One of the things that attracted me to this site was the journaling aspect of it so I guess this is less about the photo and more about the journal.
