Spring coil

Ferns are unfurling - time to go out searching for bracken coils (they make a fair substitute for asparagus but you have to bring them to the boil 3 times to rid them of their bitter taste). I did find two spikes of real asparagus today in my allotment - last year I was eating it in late March.
