Last Full Day in Aix
Back blipping by a day.
Last full day in Aix and we'd booked a table for dinner at 7.30pm on the terrace of Les Incontournables restaurant. It was on a lovely little square with a fountain and we'd been told to arrive a little early for a 'fountain table' - Bb here on the collage. A dinner reservation meant a different rhythm to the day as we've had late lunches every other day and a cheese and bread dinner.
Some wanderings in the late morning and a light lunch of a shared plate of beef carpaccio and parmesan. More wanderings and an attempt at some culture, but the gallery was closed so we opted to sit and read our books on, yes, you guessed it, a square, and with a glass of white wine. I'm really enjoying The Thursday Murder Club - a good holiday read. The colourful family in the collage walked past while I was people watching here.
A short walk then to dinner, which was lovely and we got a fountain table. Great to get this restaurant recommendation from a local. I had green tomato gazpacho with ham and then pulled pork, which came as little croquette balls. A chocolate dessert was squeezed in, despite not finishing my other plates!
Wandered back to the hotel and I went straight to bed. No terrace, no reading, straight to sleep! A lovely last day.
Other photos: our little terrace of room 101 of the Odalys Les Floridians Hotel, a water stop, oil and vinegar bottles on a terrace, one of the little public electric buses that carry 6 passengers and can negotiate the narrow streets. I think lots of cities could use these.
