"Garbage" Day

...and I bet you thought I was going to talk about the weather! I know now why I was unable to catch even a glimpse of the aurora borealis last night. Those clouds brought in April snow showers, and hopefully will still bring May flowers.

Now back to Garbage Day. Within the last couple of years our waste management collection became mechanized. We changed from plastic bags to barrels - brown barrels for non-organic waste and green barrels for organic waste. A truck comes by, lifts up the barrels with a steel arm, dumps the waste in the back and returns the barrel to the curb. Recycling waste such as paper and cardboard can be put in blue see-through plastic bags for pick-up the old-fashioned way.

As for this being a "Garbage" day - it was definitely a surprise to see the snow this morning. However, since the green has not yet appeared, I think I prefer white to brown. I suspect the kids did not enjoy getting back into their winter gear after having had such nice warm days. I know our cat was miffed. And, whoever thought it was too early to take off the winter snow tires! I guess I may be talking about the weather after all...
