Minton canal
Across the road from our house is a long straight pathway with very mature trees lining the path. It's official name is Boulevard Gardens and it follows the line of the old canal that travelled from Minton potteries (about a mile away) to Hem Heath / Trentham collieries (about 2 miles away).
This was how coal and clay used to get to Minton and Royal Doulton pottery and how the finished product got to the the River Trent and other canal / Road networks.
Years ago the canal was filled in and the land gifted to the city. In my photo is the last remaining stretch of the old wall that lined the canal.
Nice to have a little history literally a minute from the front door.
