Wallace’s Cave, River Avon Heritage Trail
This morning I took a wee wander along part of the River Avon Heritage Trail.
Starting on the path just off Westfield Roundabout, I headed down towards the river to Wallaces Cave (although it's technically a geological arch formation).
Allegedly this is where William Wallace hid following his defeat at the Battle of Falkirk in 1298 and where you can also see some interesting carvings in the stonework.
I then followed the path, which stays close to the River Avon along to Torphichen Bridge. It was a lovely walk through the woodland with some great wee wooden and stone bridges to cross and where you can see the Avon Falls.
