Grey Day
I felt quite accomplished this morning after I'd learned how to work out my allergens for the labels on my new soap sponges. It's not a simple process (each essential oil usually contains a number of allergens), I usually have a blend of 2-4 essential oils in any one fragrance combination (with 6 variations). There are dermal limits for each oil and each allergen and some essential oils contain the same allergens. Once all totted up in any variation of a formulation anything over 0.1% needs to be added to the ingredients list in descending order, along with all the others.
Whilst I know at least a couple of you would be very comfortable working out these kind of problems - my brain simply doesnt work in any kind of scientific or mathematical way. Mastering this, something I usually outsource, has been very rewarding. It also means I can save myself some ££ in future by doing it myself, now that I know how.
I've had another trade enquiry from an Edinburgh architects business looking to buy handwash and diffusers :)
In other news, dad has been sent home today from hospital 2 weeks on from the latest operation. Not without trepidation it has to be said (he was still in intensive care 3 days ago) but the hospital is rammed and struggling for beds. He will apparently be having people come to the house to change dressings and do all the necessary tests etc. It sounds like progress but mum, dad and my sister are all very nervous, unsurprisingly. We'll see. We've been here so many times already this year.
