Runner beans after the rain!
Rain has come at last, nearly 18mm in the last 2 days. There has been flooding in some parts of London and Surrey.
When I went to the allotment this morning the ground was still damp so no watering needed today for a change.
The runner bean tripod looks quite healthy but the yield is poorer than in previous years. I’m hoping that the flowers showing now will set and the resulting beans will be longer than up to now.
We have picked most of our Victoria plums as so many are already partly eaten by little worms/maggots. So tonight we will have a plum crumble!
The cucumbers are now growing well and the courgettes continue to flourish too. I will be doing a veg delivery this evening with surplus to the friend who waters my garden when we are away.
