Bearsted Farmers Market

Back to Bearsted Green today for the monthly "Farmers Market" I use speech marks as I'm not sure "Farmers" is the correct label for this sort of Market.

Granted there are a couple of farms selling local meat and one selling game, a van selling local fish but the only greengrocer had very limited stock of fruit on offer - just one variety of dessert apple.

The rest were artisan bakers, cup cake and preserves peddlers, purveyors of olives and such like, hand made cards and as in this stall, candles and scents.

I'm not saying this is wrong, it is very interesting and people are trying to make a living selling hand crafted or locally produced wares but a Farmers Market it is not. Local Produce and Crafts Market might be more in order.

Whatever it is called, its a good thing and well patronised. The Green is busy this weekend, what with cricket yesterday and a circus all this week.
