Squaddie

A trip over to the boat to check that everything was OK following the downpours. No water to be seen. At the same time the water outside the boat was rapidly disappearing out the harbour. I got ashore skimming over the mud, just in time. A quick investigation with BP about whether the Commodore’s board could be found a place. And after then I was detained awhile chatting to old RH who was there just hoping to find someone to talk to. Mostly about his ill health. And as I left I talked to a poor old chap out walking with sticks, doubled over with arthritis of his backbone. Oh Lordy. All young men once.

Up town to the EIFF to see Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song. What an enjoyable film and it was so good to see the old guy again. He’s looking and sounding great, I can assure you all. And Bob Dylan was looking pretty hip too.
We sat out and snacked beside Ken Buchanan’s new statue and headed down to see From Heroin to Hero at the Army Fringe place in East Claremont. I thought the actor didn’t really convince, but it was a well done piece.
Onward, the chums at the DigDogs to see. Much talking of… ailments. We were all young men once.
