Here we go again!

The whale

One of the things about Pearson that my older daughter and I remember from the reunion we attended 20 years ago, is the whale. It used to be next to the swimming pool, but in the few days since we've been here, it has been re-displayed in a more prominent spot on campus, right outside the little lecture theatre (LLT). 32 years ago, when a whale that died of natural causes washed up in Pedder Bay, an indigenous student and a biology teacher sunk it to speed its decomposition, then brought up the bones and reconstructed the skeleton - a very cool, if somewhat smelly, experiential learning project! More about it here.

Today was our last day at the reunion. We had a talk this morning about ways to approach retirement. I did a hike this afternoon and then we had the gala dinner and auction this evening. We have a long travel day tomorrow with a red eye flight, so I've called it a night, but I suspect J will be going strong for a while longer.
