Maple does Versace Versus Caffe

Here Maple is in Andy and Bex's backyard enjoying a yummy breakfast of high tea goodies we brought home from our day yesterday. Maple was in her element. She is loving strawberries at the moment and also enjoyed the chocolate chip scone and zataar mini bread. She sat out in the garden and was captivated by the birds and trees and of course, Winston the adorable Chatreux cat :-)

Meanwhile Uncle Rock's brioche was rising on the bench. Quite a precise process involving kneeding and rising for certain stints of time. Thank god fof Kitchen Aids.... I would be interested to hear from anyone who has made brioche by hand. The cinnamon sugar was added and it was cooked by mid-morning. Bex, Andy and I all enjoyed a slice on the lawn in the sunshine.

We all went to the Al Hamra Luxury Centre for a look around and to have lunch at the Versace Versus Caffe, recommended by the magazine Bex works for Bazaar. Maple enjoyed some fresh fruit and made an absolute monstrosity of a croissant (Especially considering there were no highchairs). The waitresses were forced into a right panic, cleaning up between mouthfuls. I wish I had my camera for that. Our food was delicious.

In the afternoon Bex took me to track down some all important Green & Blacks cocoa. Nothing else compares for baking and I haven't found it in Dubai.

Maple and I had a wonderful weekend. It was more than relaxing to 'just have one' child to attend to. Maple's first holiday and my first time away from both Oscar and Bailee (Apart from for Maple's birth) went better than expected. I feel revived and admittedly relieved that Stu and the twins not only survived, but had an fun-filled weekend together :-)
