Strange Day
Grace spotted this lovely Red Admiral on our neighbour’ Buddleia down the drive as we were about to set off to Bath. As I haven’t had a decent shot of any butterfly this year I’ve made this my blip for today.
We should have been coming back via Grace’s uni friend’s in Daventry but we got a message this morning to say that her eldest little girl had been ill in the night so that idea was abandoned.
Her younger daughter is Grace’s goddaughter and as they have been away she had not sent her anything for a birthday present earlier in the month. Off we went to Saltaire to find something for her. There was nothing appropriate for the 3 year old but Eda decided she ‘needed’ something. We had to abandon the shop so didn’t make it, again, to Salts Mill bookshop where granny was going to let them choose books!
We had a good run South West after lunch with no traffic delays and Jude sleeping for a good part of the journey. We didn’t stop till we got to Gloucester Services when Jude had woken up. She was wet for some reason so she was changed into dry clothes and we were soon on our way again, less than an hour from home. Within ten minutes Jude was violently sick for no apparent reason. I managed to turn around to clean her hands and face but she had to sit in it till we got home, she was very good and didn’t cry till she saw daddy. John had been alerted and so she went straight into the bath when we got there.
She seems fine now and both girls are to be delighted to be reacquainted with their home, toys, bedrooms, garden and cats after two weeks away.
The highlight of the day for Eda was discovering the automatic turnstile door at Gloucester services!
Happy wedding anniversary Grace and John, married 9 years ago today!
