I'm A Headcase
I've never been so nervous for a race before.
I woke up at 6:45 to get to the school for a 7:30 bus to Westbury for the Nassau Coaches Invitational. Little did I know that steeple was one of the last events and I didn't have to be there until much, much later...
I didn't actually run until about 2:30. So I spent six hours freaking out about my race. That wasn't fun. My legs were still killing me from Thursday's workout, and sitting on a bus for a total of five hours yesterday couldn't have helped. I stretched, jogged, and freaked out for hours until it was finally time to run. I was put in the second heat, seeded second. I completely lied about my time and said I run 11:00 (I really ran 11:52 the only other time I've done it) but Pat and my coaches were mad that I wasn't in the first heat.
I have no regrets about where I was placed, because Pat and I ran the exact same time and he came in last for the first heat.
I had a pretty good race. My water pit form was much better, and I still hurdled all of the steeples. I really need to work on my form and on not being afraid of the steeples.
11:28.
I was thrown into a 4x400 after that, and it was just as bad as expected. I ended up running a 62, which isn't terrible considering I'm not a sprinter and I just ran seven and a half laps with a total of thirty-five jumps, seven of them into a pit of water.
I went straight from Westbury to Molloy for my cello lesson. I really need to practice more for All-State.
It's rather frustrating how all of my work throughout the entire year rests on these next few weeks.
AP's, All-State, Counties.
All at once.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
