Today's the day ...................... to let your hair down

Well that's it - we've led the very last Town Tour  of Kirkcudbright this evening and we can now let all those historical facts and figures about the town, gently float away.

There were supposed to be 13 participants but, in the end, only 4 turned up.  It was probably because there have been some very heavy downpours of rain today - and the sky still looked pretty threatening this evening.  The four people who braved the potential elements were however, absolutely delightful.  Two of them were born and bred Kirkcudbrians and had lived in the town for more than fifty years - always a bit daunting for a tour leader who has only been here for not quite four!  But they could not have been more interested in all we had to say and generous in sharing their recollections and personal knowledge.

The above, by the way, makes a regular appearance every year in one of the windows of MacLellan's Castle in the centre of town.   She(?) is always a guest at the Kirkcudbright Tattoo which happens at the end of the month ....................
