Starflower
Borage is a wonderfully versatile plant. It has medicinal and culinary uses, known benefits for companion planting, is beautiful, and pollinators LOVE it • We’ve grown borage around our tomato plants for quite a few years now. First, the flowers attract bees into the vegetable garden which is an absolute must. This next one is unproven but many believe borage enhances the flavor of tomatoes. That’s hard for us to confirm because garden tomatoes are always so yummy :) The real reason we plant them together is to keep the Mother Hawkmoth from laying eggs on the tomato plants at night. The tomato horned worm, actually a caterpillar, is one ugly and scary dude. As they grow they will completely defoliate your plant and kill it. We haven’t found one - yet - but we’re always on the lookout. Believe me when I tell you the sight of one will send shivers down your spine. Their face is one that only a Mother Moth could love • Sweet Dreams :)
