On our way home
All of us were a bit blurry eyed this morning and the early rise felt hard work.
And there were 11 of us travelling back to Istanbul, needing 2 cars so the long journey separated us. Ali in his kindness, stopped off an hour into the journey and bought bags of figs, cucumbers and nectarines for both cars. I think the boys were hoping for bread. ;-)
We were in good time but then spent several hours queueing in various lines for security checks and passport checks of various kinds and repetitions.
But we took off on time but didn’t land on time - as we had a ‘missed landing’ which was a slight concern .. the plane actually touched down but then sped up again immediately … not enough stability or too much turbulence I think the Captain said.
So we climbed up and up and then headed down again. And it was success second time. :-) . Then we found we had a missing case - we only checked one in because Dot.T and I were given gifts that needed to go in the hold! A busy man had taken our suitcase and left his own - and eventually, he noticed and headed back to Heathrow to swap. It amazes me really that one can leave an airport with a case that isn’t yours. Ah well. We’re glad & thankful to have it back.
We had a long uneventful underground journey home to be reunited with our lovely dogs and cat. Borys, our Ukrainian houseguest, seems to have looked after them just fine.
We’ve had an amazing fortnight.
