Alone
Today we had a rehearsal at 2pm followed by a concert at 7.45pm. Aberdeen Bach Choir with Aberdeen Sinfonietta. It was actually a really nice concert. Lots of really, thoughtful, slow, long, beautiful music... Including Arvo Part's piece in memorium of Benjamin Britten, for bell and strings which consisted of an A minor descending scale which works it's way round the strings, first violins going an 8 th of the speed faster than the seconds who are going an 8th of the speed faster than the viola and so on... I loved it. Fantastic man.
Before the rehearsal started I sat outside, alone, just thinking... When I started thinking about how much I really was not alone perched on the edge of a tomb. As much as graveyards do give me the heebeegeebees... They do fascinate me a little bit...
In solitude, where we are least alone.
