Hummer wars are on!

I'm glad for the distraction they provided tonight - there were 3 or 4 of them- and the male in this photo spent most of his time and energy chasing them away from his feeders. IT was a welcome distraction watching them though as my sweetie , our 5 yr old rescue cat that we have only had for 7 months, had to go to the vets this AM as he was having diarrhea , some vomiting and was lethargic with a very sudden onset last night. He is staying at least overnight on IV and antibiotics  for a UTI but no evidence of an obstruction thank God. Since he is febrile I can't but help but wonder if he has COVID as 3/4 of the household were dx with it not 2 weeks ago and all just came off mask precautions after isolation on Friday.
I just hope he is improved tomorrow and can come home. It was very frustrating as our vet had " no openings can schedule him for Friday if you think it's an emergency take him to Cornell or Colonial " . Both in Ithaca and hour plus away. Cornell was also unable to admit as their hospital was full. No local vets are currently taking emergencies that aren't from their own practice. I need to change vets. These guys that took over the practice we've been with for 35 years don't do surgery , don't see emergencies  and are so different from Steve our former vet.
Thank heavens the hummers were wild tonight . It kept my mind off it till Dr Schaffer called with Sirius's labs and US. which weren't bad. I hope he can come home  tomorrow.
