Juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker

Our young Great Spotted Woodpeckers are growing up now and are just beginning to show adult plumage colours.  This one is male as he is just beginning to show a red patch developing at the back of his head and below the red juvenile cap which will disappear in time.

Much cooler today, thank goodness, and we had some heavy rain showers overnight.
