Let's get ready to rumble

Well, run actually!

Marathon of The North, Sunderland.

The marathon and half marathon runners had gone at this point and we had a short interval before I called these hardy souls to the start line for the 10k race.

Before each start I was asked to announce a silence for the people of Boston and used the same words the commentator at the London Marathon used. I seemed to have got the mood right because you could have heard a pin drop.

I was on the microphone for over 8 hours today and received some very nice compliments from people who know a lot a out these things.

Many brilliant performances and even greater stories. Too many to mention here but the 2 that stood out were the man doing his first marathon after taking up running to boost his strength for cancer treatment. And our last athlete who was completing her 30th marathon and is doing 30 more this year.
