Guided insect walk at Rainham Marshes

These serious photographers do seem to use long zooms (as Hilary suggested!) so maybe I should have taken my 70-300 instead of the 18-55. The umbrella collects insects shaken from the bushes. A touch of Nabokov about the nets. We saw one of the hornet mimic hoverflies I posted yesterday. Insects were sensibly avoiding the heat. Extras include an adult green shieldbug and a wasp spider.
