Temperate House, Kew Gardens

We paid our first visit of the year to Kew Gardens today. Spring is well advanced. The bluebells will be in full bloom in a week or so.

I was shocked to learn that the great Temperate House will be closing in the summer for five years while it is being renovated. I know it needs some TLC and I'm pleased it's got the funding but five years feels like half a lifetime.

As this blip shows, the packing up is already under way.
