Singular Anniversary
We nixed every idea we had to celebrate our 34th anniversary. We thought we'd go out for breakfast, or picnic at Oxbow Park (site of our wedding picnic), drive to Salem, taking an out of the way route, to visit brother Ken and pick up our grandfather's anvil (my turn to have it; such an heirloom to pass around), or a hike somewhere. But then we decided to do what we each really wanted to do: he to work on the old Chevy, and me to do yard work at the rental while the tenants are out of town, and to bake shortbread for tomorrow's Progressive Dinner party. Then, home again, we had a nice salmon dinner outside, played Bananagrams, and had a dish of ice cream.
