Black Uhuru gig cancelled
I bought tickets for this band's gig on August 7th. Then the concert was postponed until 8th September. Yesterday I heard that the band's visas run out at the end of August, and can't be extended. Boooo.
This morning I thought it was Sunday and didn't get up until 7.39. CleanSteve was sleeping downstairs because of the heat, and he overslept too. Amazingly, we were only ten minutes late for the market.
Indie has gone off her food, so I went to the pet shop to get advice and buy some posh stuff for her. The woman said she probably just didn't want to eat because of the heat. Makes sense.
In the market, I played DJ, and chose mainly reggae. Told Facebook and some of my fellow traders that I'd be giving up the stall at the end of September. Felt quite sad about it, but if electricity and gas bills are going to skyrocket again, I'll need a steadier income. Fortunately I'll be able to increase my hours at work as a social.prescriber. It's heartbreaking hardly taking anything in the market, but most people have so little to spare now.
Packed up at 3, came home, unpacked, made overnight oats and banana bread (why?) Then prepped supper and cooked it. GG came round and we watched an old film, The Last September (1999). Very good, based on a book of thr same name, by Elizabeth Bowen, that we'll be studying next term.
GG left and CleanSteve and I had supper. Emptied the dishwasher and reloaded it. Felt like a robot whose batteries were running down. Weather is still hot, but I am used to it now. Tomorrow I will be free (as a bird now, and that bird you'll never chayayayange).
