Feather on a teasel
Another hot and sweaty day in Norfolk. And STRESSFUL. So stressful that W was too churned up to eat lunch.
It started when we called our conveyancer, and discovered that there was a mistake in one of the documents that the owners of our attached semi were signing, and they would have to sign another! We sorted that out - including picking up the signed document and taking it physically in to Norwich to our solicitor's chambers!
But meanwhile, whilst we were pressuring for exchange either today, or at the latest on Monday, our buyers had decided that, whilst they agreed with our proposed completion date, they wanted to have exchange and completion on the same day. I think this is all related to needing to take out a mortgage on their current house in order to raise the 10% deposit. But since our previous sale fell apart only a few days before exchange, there is NO WAY we want to risk such a manoeuvre. They've had 4 months to organise this, and if they need to take out the mortgage a few days early, well so be it.
We would have to take the risk of arranging our house removal into storage before we had a signature on paper - would you do that? We decided that, if they refused to exchange in advance, we would actually abandon the sale, and take the house off the market. It would result in us incurring some costs, but we are not so desperate that we would be pressured into agreeing with their proposal.
And now it's Friday evening, and everyone has gone home for the weekend without a care in the world, leaving us hanging. Will we have a good weekend? And it's just too hot to contemplate an outing.
My solution to all the stress is to spend money, and more money, on fabric. I now have (on order or already in stock) the wherewithal to keep me occupied for several years, if not decades!
