Backblip 11th July 2022 Day 10 of our NC500 trip.
Dunnet Bay to Scourie, the route we took was about 104 miles, the main “A” road after Dounreay was single track with passing places to Durness, we should have diverted to Cape Wrath but only found out it was worth it much later, it would have meant a return on the same road as there was only one way in and one way out.
The road used was also called the “Rock Road” which we didn’t really understand until the penny dropped all along the road were massive boulders some Croft size, which had been deposited during one of the ice ages.
The day was brilliant the West Coast does not disappoint and the North coast although very narrow and winding with lots of “Passing Places” really does hug the coast with spectacular views around every corner.
One night in Scourie, then onward to Ullapool and more of the NC500 still lots more to see.
