What's left behind

A prologue to this blipfoto journal need extend no further than this image, a vision I had this morning. I had just taken a farewell breakfast with my friend Leyla, and, well fed and in good spirits, I offered to drive her to her next location a few blocks away. As I pulled up to let her off, I beheld these two anthropomorphic canids in the windows of a closed pet supply store, which is, in its zeitgeist, much closer to a Santeria supply shop than a Petco. Beholding the dog headed people like a domestic Marco Polo, I realized the complex sentiments I had about going away to Alaska were dissolving at lightening speed. Trepidation, doubt, guilt, fear and loathing were gone, replaced with a single ambition to flee. "Nothing that might happen to you in Skagway, Byers" I thought to myself, "will scare you half as bad as this."
