Riverside's East Side

Last night's thunderstorm

I've been avoiding much of Riverside Park for some weeks now. I'm quite disgusted with the state it's been left in over the summer. The waterpark renovation was a complete fiasco. But this morning I thought I should have a look at its east side near the railway bridge.

I was out on my deck just before 6, having guzzled my big mug of coffee and packed up my camera to head over the bridge to the downtown.

As I parked by the railway bridge, I noticed the construction fencing had been pushed back into the park. The walkway as far as the pier is now accessible. There were a couple of small pieces of equipment in action around the center of the park. I saw some new navigational markers in the river. These red and white balls look like large fishing floats. I'm sure they make some sense to boaters. It was great to walk to the end of the pier to catch the first rays of the sun this morning. The only birds I saw were gulls.

I was home before 7 and will remain until after lunch. I'm meeting a friend for ice cream this afternoon.

We have another day of mixed sun and cloud with a high expected of 34 C and the risk of a thunderstorm later in the day.
