Turn left on heading 165 and climb to 100 metres?
A quiet Sunday afternoon drive. Slung the camera in the back of the car (No! Placed it there!). Had the settings on Auto ISO ready for unplanned snapshot - which is in part why this Grey Heron is very soft-focussed. No time to do any settings to get a cleaner picture. At least I got it.
The place is Polner Dam, named after the wee, ruined medieval Church of St Apollinaris, nearby. When I can, I'll give you a shot of the ruins. He was Bishop of Ravenna, and not to be confused with Apollinaris of Laodicea, who gave us a 'heretical' insight into the Trinity, known as Apollinarianism. The Ravenna one was beaten up by pagan mobs several times, and finally executed by Roman officialdom. How he got to having a church in this part of Scotland I do not yet know.
