Macroglossum stellatarum
A couple of years ago we only had one Hummungbird Hawk-moth visiting our garden. A bit later it were two. But this year we have about eight feeding on the buddleia at our balcony. Usually we manage to see only four, they are just too fast. But today we counted eight.
One of them got lost inside the mosquito mesh around our balcony. I used the opportunity to get real close. The scales at the end of the body, what looks like a hairy tail, help the moths to steer when they are feeding.
