Hungry waxeyes

This time of the year I like to feed the birds. Seems like the waxeyes are back! Even saw some tui’s and bellbirds attacking the sugar water! It is cold and getting close to spring when they start building their nests and soon will be feeding their young. They are quite hungry and the apples and sugar water disappear very quickly. I always wonder where they go at night especially when the temperatures go below 1°
