Harvest curtailed

Today was the day I had planned to harvest the gooseberry crop but, within ten minutes of me going into the fruit cage, the cloud had descended and I was enveloped in a misty rain so I beat a hasty retreat until another day.

Although she didn’t know it, today was Lucy’s last day with us as her humans were travelling home. We all had our fingers crossed that their ferry booking would be secure. There has been quite a bit on the Scottish news about the impact of a broken down ferry to the Outer Hebrides but nothing about the chaos on the Oban to Mull crossing as a result of our largest ferry being redeployed further north to help with the problem there.

Thankfully, Lucy was able to return home in the late afternoon and Bertie has had a very relaxed evening.
