The Bride.
A spectacular walk high, high above Todmorden to visit The Bride Stones, with this particular stone being known as The Bride!
The stones are a superb example of Yorkshire bouldering crags formed when glaciated within the last 15,000 years, or so I have learnt from a spot of researching here and there.
The most interestingly shaped rocks have been given names such as The Cheeseblock, The Villain and this, the Bride Stone itself. I think it looks a little like a misshapen egg balancing precariously on a little egg cup!
The walk around the country lanes also offered beautiful views and it really was a treat to have this landscape almost entirely free of any other people. :-)
