Dribs and Drabs of 2014

Why is colourlessness so challenging???

I didn't give up after 100. I've been up to my pits in exams, term papers, marking, and hot rod photography. All of these, and the lack of anything "Spring" has meant updates to my blip space have piled up on my desktop.

This blip follows a long discussion on-line discussion about B&W. The upper left is CS6 Gray scale mode, upper right is a CS6 standard B&W filter with colours zeroed, the bottom left is the same, but with default settings, and the bottom right is a Perfect B&W filter version.

I think I like the bottom two, but really the subtleties are too minor for my untrained eye to make a call. When processing B&W images for my Masters and PhD theses I was always looking for some "pure" black in the image. That seemed easier, or at least more straightforward, than the virtual darkroom.

Oh yeah, this is the entrance to the back garden (I almost forgot the "garden" theme). It's a $10 window I purchased in PEI, along with two antique strap hinges. I removed the glass and inserted 1/2" copper pipe. Cost me about $25.
