The Missing Stone
Full confession. Today’s entry was taken on Thursday, but it is appropriate for a Sunday.
Alicia had need of a physiotherapist and Pat’s physio was able to recommend one near Dundee.
Whilst Alicia was being ‘manipulated’ Pat and I wandered up the road to visit Pitkerro Grove Cemetery. This is a new burial ground which has a commanding view over to the Lomond Hills in Fife.
There is archeological evidence which confirms this site was used by the Picts as a burial ground. The very poor quality extra shows the grave of one Pict as discovered. It is engraved on stainless steel.
The main photo shows the pedestrian entrance to the Cemetry and is a fine example of different walling materials. Pity about the missing stone.
It was a sad experience to look around the new grave stones often surrounded by various toys, photos, sculptures etc which gave more insight to the persons buried.
Covid had made its mark, as had road accidents, and other illnesses.
It was the first time in a long time that Pat and I had visited a cemetery which is in daily use.
Modern tragedies and death linking back to Pictish times over three millennia and all of the mourners admiring the same magnificent landscape stretching out before them.
