Martin Mere
Wednesday August 3
Well, so much for keeping up to date - here I am running 4/5 days behind again!
Today we visited the Martin Mere Wetland Centre, a nature reserve managed by the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust, near Ormskirk Lancashire. We asked Bernard if he would like to come, but he said he felt like a quiet day at home. It’s a long time since we last visited. There is a trail that runs around and through the reed beds, with numerous bird hides along the way. We saw a number of lapwings as well as the more common Canada geese, ducks and gulls. Then we walked through the area featuring birds from around the world. It seems much more young family oriented than Slimbridge which we have visited from my sisters near Gloucester several times, but an enjoyable day out, and in lovely weather
